Problem, idea and solution

Problem
Component functions as a linear slide bearing. Varying loads have led to fatigue, which has left the sliding surface broken causing the slider to become stuck. Subsequently, the casting has broken.
-
Solution
The casting was repaired by means of clips. The bearing surfaces were then restored to their original dimensions by flame spraying, milling and grinding.
